Counterstrain and Facilitated Positional Release and the Neck Pain Client

Sponsored by The Osteopathic College of Ontario

All lectures presented by Steven A. Sanet, Osteopathic Physician

Objectives:

1. To understand the history, theory, evaluation, and application of Counterstrain Technique applied to the cervical spine in the client complaining of neck pain.
2. To understand the history, theory, evaluation, and application of Facilitated Positional Release Technique applied to the cervical spine in the client complaining of neck pain.
3. To understand the neurophysiology of reflexes involved in musculoskeletal dysfunction and treatment in the client complaining of neck pain as it pertains to Counterstrain Technique and Facilitated Positional Release Technique.
4. To understand the role of fascia with regard to gravity and compensation as it pertians to traumatic injury.
5. To differentiate between tender points (aka, Jones Tender Points) versus trigger points (Travel’s Trigger Points).
6. To understand the role of nerve distribution patterns described by homunculi, dermatomes, myotomes, & sclerotomes with regard to musculoskeletal pain and dysfunction.
